The African Burial ground

The African Burial ground is an important Monument Park. Many people from all over the world come to the African Burial ground everyday. Lots of people think that the African Burial ground is a special place. They are right, it is very important.
Before, slaves thought that where they buried someone that would be the last place they would rest in peace. The slaves were wrong. Keep reading to find out what was done about this problem.

When slavery was still going on New York was called New Amsterdamn. Only part of New York was used. The rest was just trees and forests'. Since the space wasn't being used slaves wanted to use it as a burial ground. The slave-owners agreed to let them have the space. They had some rules though. Only twelve of them could be there at a time. It also had to be at dawn. The slave-owners thought that if there was more than twelve people at night that the slaves would eacape.

One day, construction workers were making a building and they started digging a hole. The they started finding coffins filled with bones. Those bones were from the slaves from a long time ago. The construction workers did not care whose bones it was. they just wanted to make the building and get paid. This secret did not last long. One day a man saw what was happening and he reported the story to "Fox news". The news reporters came in helicopters and when everyone saw what they were doing the people were angry. The people turned the building into The African Burial ground.

Archaeologists dug up all of the bodies. All together there were four hundred nineteen bodies. The bodies were all re-buried. There were seven cases that each fit sixty bodies. The cases were buried twenty four feet into the ground. after the bodies were buried, trees were buried. There are seven trees. Some people say that each tree protects one case. This is how special slaves are.

As you can see, the burial ground is a very special, respected place. Every year during the month of october is the aniversary of the burial ground. Now that the slaves were buried again, this is the last place the slaves will be. Now you know all
about the African Burial ground!

Susan-
Excellent essay. Make sure when you type you leave a space after all punctuation, like commas, periods and question marks.

Can you make the transition between your first and second paragraphs smoother? you go very quickly from talking about the past to talking about the 1990s. It is confusing.

Are you sure all of your facts are correct? do millions of people visit the ABG every day?

You can take out statements like "thank you for reading my essay" and "I hoped you like it" when you are doing formal writing assignments like this one.

What's the mistake in this sentence: "Archaeologist found 419 bodies in total."

Good job overall. For your next essay we'll also talk about thesis statements.
